If you are still afraid to take real pilaf, try making it in a simplified version - cook meat with rice in pots in the oven, the recipe with a photo will show how simple it is. Preparing the dish is much easier and faster than pilaf, this option seems to be specially designed for novice housewives. Vegetables and meat need to be fried - there is nothing difficult in this - then mixed with rice, spices and placed in pots. Pour in water, put in the oven and wait for readiness. Nothing needs to be mixed or added, the main thing is not to interfere with the cooking process. In an hour, everything will be ready, you just have to put the pots of meat and rice on the table and watch with pleasure how the household eats the dinner you have prepared.
Any rice is suitable for this dish, it is not necessary to buy expensive basmati. Buy round grain or long grain, but not chopped. And it is better to choose softer meat - pork shoulder or back.

Ingredients for one 600 ml pot:

- rice round or long - 0.5 cups;
- lean pork - 200 gr;
- lard - 2 tbsp. l. (or 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil);
- onion - 1 large or 2 medium heads;
- sweet pepper - 0.5 large;
- carrots - 0.5 pcs;
- turmeric -1/3 tsp (for color);
- black pepper - 3 pinches;
- paprika - 1 tsp (not spicy);
- fresh herbs, vegetables - for serving.

How to cook with a photo step by step




We cut the meat into small pieces so that it is convenient to pry with a fork or spoon along with rice. Season with ground black pepper.




Chop the onion into small cubes or cut into thin quarters of rings. Cut carrots and sweet pepper into small pieces.




We heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan or heat the lard. You can cut a small piece of lard and melt the fat, and put the cracklings in a pot along with the meat. We spread the pieces of meat in hot fat, brown on all sides until a light crust.






We reduce the fire, pour the chopped onion to the meat. Saute over low heat for 10 minutes or until the onion absorbs the fat and becomes soft and almost translucent.




Add carrots with sweet pepper to the meat and onions. Mix, fry for a few minutes until the vegetables absorb the oil.




Season with black ground pepper and add ground paprika. It is highly desirable to add turmeric powder to meat with rice and vegetables. It gives almost no taste, but the rice acquires a bright golden yellow color and looks very appetizing.






After two or three minutes, lay out the rice, after washing the cereal under running water. We make the fire stronger, evaporate the liquid that got into the pan along with the rice. Do not forget to stir, wet rice may stick to the pan.




Fry for about five minutes. Rice should become crumbly, oily and yellow in color.




We shift the contents of the pan into a pot, filling it about half or a little more. Pour a glass of warm or hot water. Salt to taste. Be sure to try, the water should be a little salty. Cover the pot tightly with a lid and place in a cold oven. We bring the temperature of the oven to 170 degrees, note the time or start the timer and cook the meat with rice in a pot for exactly an hour.




After turning off the oven, leave the pots for 10-15 minutes to brew a little and take a break from the heat. Serve meat with rice and vegetables in the same pots or put it on a plate and sprinkle with herbs. You can add fresh vegetables, pickled or pickled cucumbers, and from drinks, tomato juice or mineral water without gas is suitable.
