The whole family was engaged in salting: the children peeled carrots and apples, the old people cut them. Men and women chopped cabbage, put it in tubs, covered it with salt, added carrots, apples, lingonberries or cranberries. On cabbage leaf baked delicious tortillas. When the dough was laid on a leaf, they prayed that the winter would pass safely. Patties with cabbage were also served on the table that day.
