How to make coconut oil from coconut milk. How to make coconut oil at home: necessary ingredients, step by step recipe with photos and cooking tips. Making your own coconut oil

This time I bring to your attention a very simple coconut oil recipe. It is good because it does not require a large number time, complex devices, and also allows you to save the maximum useful properties of a natural product. The disadvantages include the fact that the "yield" of oil with this method is quite low. On the other hand, all remaining ingredients can be used. So nothing just goes to waste.

To do Coconut oil Houses, You will need:

  • coconuts
  • Hammer
  • A piece of thick fabric
  • Meat grinder, blender, or other chopping devicev Large bowl or saucepan

My coconuts, punch 2 holes and pour milk out of them, as for cooking coconut oil we only need the pulp.

We take a coconut, wrap it in a cloth. Then we break the coconut with the sharp side of the hammer. We unfold the fabric, separate the pulp from the shell.

Coconuts cut into small pieces are placed in a blender. And we start grinding them. The smaller the pulp, the better. Transfer the coconut flakes to a bowl.

Coconut pulp is prepared, now fill it with hot water. It should not be brought to a boil, because boiling water kills some of the beneficial properties of the oil. It is better to turn off the kettle a few seconds before large air bubbles appear.

After all the pulp is filled with hot water, expose it to the cold, for example, to the balcony. Or let it cool first and then refrigerate.

As a result, you should get a whitish crust on the surface of the water and chips. This is our oil. Now it must be removed and separated from water and pulp.

To do this, take a spoon (a special chef's spoon with holes is ideal) and remove the oil from the surface, trying to scoop up water and shavings as little as possible.

The oil crust, which we removed from the surface, must be melted for straining. This can be done in a water bath or microwave oven. Then strain the liquid through a small strainer.

After filtering, it is advisable to cool the jar of oil and put it in the refrigerator.

From 6 coconuts according to this recipe, about 200 grams of coconut oil came out. Keep in mind that coconuts are noticeably different from each other. One of them is more meaty and fatty, while the other is drier. Naturally, the former produces more oil. Therefore, when choosing coconuts in the store, give preference to heavier nuts, in which, when shaking, the sound of splashing milk is loud.

Please note that you will most likely get oil with a small amount water. It's not scary. It won't ruin the oil itself.

By the way, in this case coconut oil production can be considered irrelevant. coconut flakes should be separated from water and used in cooking or in cosmetology. For example, you can make a body scrub out of it.

And with the water left after cooking, you can take a bath. Please note that this oil is not stored for a long time. Therefore, it is advisable to use it within 1-2 weeks and store it in the refrigerator.

How to make coconut oil at home? This question is asked by many girls who would like to try all the beneficial properties of coconut on themselves, but do not have the opportunity to purchase commercial coconut oil for a number of reasons. The Girl's World website will show you in detail how to make your own coconut oil.

Health Benefits of Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is insanely beneficial for the hair as well as the body. This oil should be in every girl who strives to take care of herself, especially with the help of natural cosmetics.

So, coconut oil gives hair an incredible shine, moisturizes it along its entire length, saturates it with useful nutrients, does not make hair greasy (i.e., it is suitable for all types of hair), prevents hair splitting, and perfectly protects from the sun in summer. Perhaps these are its main advantages in relation to hair. In my opinion, coconut oil is an indispensable thing in hair care, it is one of my favorites for hair.

By the way, my other secret for hair care is, on the World of the Girl website there is a detailed photo recipe for its preparation.

For the body, coconut oil also carries great benefit. So, it perfectly moisturizes the skin, nourishes it, and if you smear the skin with this oil in summer, it makes the tan even, beautiful, chocolate. Well, what a find!

Due to the fact that I do not have the opportunity to purchase coconut oil (it simply does not exist where I live), I decided to make it myself, since I had heard about it useful properties. Of course, if you are in Thailand, the Dominican Republic, and other similar countries, be sure to purchase coconut oil, it is very cheap there for a bottle of 1-2 dollars, especially on vacation in the summer it will come in handy for you (for a perfect tan, protecting your hair from sunlight ).

Shall we start?

1. We need to buy coconuts from the store. How to choose a good coconut? Shake the coconut, if you hear water splashing, that's good. This is the kind of coconut we need, where there is more water. The fact is that such a coconut is ripe. Pay attention also to appearance coconut, it should not have mold, holes, and other damage. Take 2-3 coconuts, it will cost about 100 rubles (based on 1 coconut = 30-35 rubles).

2. When you buy coconuts, bring them home, wash them. You need to drain (drink as you wish) the liquid from inside the coconut (coconut milk). By the way, this coconut milk is very beneficial for the body, be sure to try it. Good coconut milk tastes good, sweet. If the coconut milk smells bad, something sour, the coconut is probably bad and should not be used to make coconut oil. But let's hope you choose good coconuts. So, how do you drain coconut milk? On the coconut, you can see three “eyes”, it is these three points that need to be pierced, they are quite easily pierced by pressing something thin. You can stick a straw in and drink coconut milk, or pour it out by turning the coconut over. It is important to completely free the coconut from the liquid, as we will break it.

3. Coconut milk was poured (drank), we proceed to breaking the coconut. Here you will need male power in the person of your dad, beloved, etc. The photo shows where you need to beat the coconut with a hammer, it is advisable to spread some kind of towel so as not to collect pieces of coconut all over the room later.

5. Then you need to chop the coconut, for this it is advisable to take a blender, cut the coconut into 2-3 cm pieces, put it in a blender and chop. If you don't have a blender, grate the coconut on a coarse grater.

6. Move the grated coconut to the pan, first you need to boil the water in the kettle. Pour boiling water over grated coconut. Take a mashed potatoes (no idea what it is called correctly), and crush the coconut in boiling water for 1-2 minutes. This is necessary in order to squeeze more coconut oil out of the coconut.

7. Next, put the coconut in a saucepan to cool to a state of warm water. This must be done, because according to physics, when the water cools, the oil rises. The first time I made coconut oil, I didn't take that factor into account and some oil came out, so in next time I did everything as expected, there was 3 times more oil. So, when the water becomes warm or even better completely cools down, put the pan in the refrigerator overnight (it is not important to close the lid).

8. In the morning, take a spoon or slotted spoon (the kind with holes) and carefully skim the hardened coconut oil into a small saucepan. Put this saucepan with oil on the smallest fire, stir thoroughly with a spoon. Don't boil! You only need to melt the butter to strain it. Take a sieve and strain the oil through it into a jar in which you will store coconut oil.

9. Everything, coconut oil is ready, put a jar of coconut oil in the refrigerator. The butter will harden and turn white when you use it, just put some on your hand and it will melt instantly.

Ready-made natural coconut oil should be stored for no more than 2-3 weeks, during which time you just use the jar and make a new one.

P.S. Coconut can be used for baking confectionery(cookies, cake, etc.) but I don't usually use it.

I want to dedicate this review to my favorite exotic nut - coconut.

Love began from childhood, when I first tried a bounty bar and rafaelki)

Then I just adored everything where there was coconut: perfumery, cooking, etc.

I really liked the aroma and I increasingly bought caring cosmetics (soaps, shampoos, gels) with this exciting smell.

I met coconut oil only a few years ago and, having appreciated its properties, I actively use it in cosmetic purposes(in skin and hair care).

Until recently, I always bought ready-made, but inspired by the reviews of the girls who wrote in detail about its preparation at home, I decided to try it myself. And you know what? I managed!

When choosing a coconut, follows pay attention to his appearance.: so as not to be split, it was heavy enough. I usually take it in my hands and shake it to hear how the coconut milk gurgles. It must be there for sure.

In the store where I buy this nut, it is sold by the piece, it costs about 30 UAH.

Opening a coconut is not so difficult, but before you open it, you need to remove the milk.

There are 3 black pits/dents on one side. Just in one of them, you can drill a hole, and pour the contents into a bowl.

Depending on the size, shape and other characteristics (freshness), the amount of coconut milk may vary. On average, it is 100-200 ml. At least that's what I came up with.

Milk is a liquid, like water, only slightly cloudy, has a very pleasant aroma and a sweetish taste.

What to do with him? Coconut milk is very healthy and contains a whole range of vitamins and minerals. Usually I drink it right away, but sometimes I use it to laminate my hair.

To open a coconut, I take a large knife and a hammer. I file a little in the center and, placing a knife along the notch, hit it with a hammer. As a result, after a few knocks, the coconut splits.

As soon as the nut has split into two halves, you can enjoy the most delicate aroma!

I like to cut it out with a knife. It separates from its shell / "shell" without problems.

For the first time, when I first tried to make coconut oil, I made several mistakes and now I don’t repeat them.

If you are going to grate, then you need to cut the slices as large as possible so that it is more convenient to grate.

Initially, I tried to do this with a blender, but due to the fact that I have a large one, it could not make small chips and the first attempt failed.

I read that the pulp can be beaten in a blender with water and then defended, but in the end nothing came of it, and rather because of the coarse grinding.

After squeezing the cake and pouring the resulting “milk” into a bowl, as it should be, I put it in the refrigerator, but only a light oily film formed on the surface and that’s it, the oil didn’t work out (

Later, I grated coconut on a grater and the experiment was always crowned with success.

How do I make coconut oil.

If you are trying for the first time and are afraid that it will not work, then use half of the coconut pulp.

We carefully grind on a fine grater, and pour the chips into a jar (or into another vessel) and pour hot water (40 degrees). After that, let it brew for at least 2-3 hours (and even better 4) with room temperature, stirring occasionally. Water along with shavings turns into milk.

After the specified time, we filter everything through cheesecloth.

Put the resulting white liquid in the refrigerator for 12-15 hours. After about half an hour, a cap forms on the surface and it is already clear that this is oil. It rises very quickly and freezes.

From the remaining shavings, you can make a scrub so as not to waste good.

For example, if I put the jar in the refrigerator at 7-8 pm, then at 9-10 am the oil is already ready and you can get it.

When something is done with your own hands, then there is no limit to joy!

Carefully draining the water, the resulting washer can be placed in a special bowl. If the butter is melted a little in a water bath and poured into a jar, then it will take on a poured shape.

And as a result, I got real coconut oil, fragrant, snow-white in color, in no way inferior to the purchased one. I keep it in the fridge and use it wherever possible.

From the warmth of the skin, it immediately conceals and thins out an amazing aroma!
